There is some special about mixing up your own homemade DIY face masks using food ingredients straight from your pantry or fridge. The best part is, you’ll know exactly what real and wholesome ingredients you are using for your skincare concoctions. Below are five face mask recipes we recommend for different skin-types to help you nourish your skin naturally at home. For all the recipes, it is recommended to use organic ingredients if possible.
Matcha + Oatmilk Face Mask
For Acne Prone Skin
- 1 teaspoon matcha
- 2 teaspoon oatmilk
This simple face mask is perfect to combat inflammation and soothe blemish prone skin. Matcha is naturally rich in antioxidants and helps control excessive sebum production. Oat Milk is rich in beta-glucans that soothe, hydrate and cleanse the skin gently. Mix the two ingredients together, apply on skin and wash off after 15 minutes. These two ingredients can also be used to make a matcha latte for nourishing benefits from the inside out and outside in.

Avocado + Cocoa Face Mask
For Dry Skin
- ½ avocado
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon raw honey or agave
This tasty mask will add hydration back to dry skin. Avocado is rich in natural oils that help moisturize the skin. Cocoa powder adds a boost of antioxidants and honey or agave soothes the skin by combating inflammation. To make the mask, mash the avocado with a fork until it is a paste-like consistency. Add the other two ingredients, mix and apply to skin. The mask won’t dry completely and can be washed after 20 minutes.

Turmeric + Honey Face mask
For Redness
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon raw honey or agave
- 1 tablespoon virgin olive or coconut oil
Turmeric is a powerhouse ingredient to tackle inflammation and redness. It is a natural anti-inflammatory with curcurmin contributing the bright yellow colour and the skin calming benefits. It also helps to brighten the skin. Honey or agave and olive oil or coconut oil contribute to the soothing benefits and keeps skin moisturized. To make the mask, mix all ingredients together until a thick consistency is formed. Turmeric may stain lighter skin types, so test out the mask on your wrist before applying to the face. - 1 teaspoon ground coffee
Yogurt is naturally rich in lactic acid that helps to gently exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells. The coffee also provides physical exfoliation that renews and brightens complexion. Caffeine in the coffee is perfect for tackling dark circles and spots to create a more radiant look. To make the mask, mix the two ingredients together and apply on skin for 15 minutes. When washing off, gently wash in a circular motion to exfoliate.
